Japanese Maples have a lot to offer in any garden or small space.  The Emperor 1 is an outstanding variety with a wide crowned upright habit.  The lobed leaves emerge a deep purple-red in spring and holds its colour very well through the summer then turns a bright red in fall.  Similar to the Bloodgood variety, Emperor 1 tends to hold its leaves longer into the fall and buds out a little later in the spring reducing the risk of frost damage from late frosts.  Grows 15′ high and wide.
